It is a region with a long musical tradition where composers and musical groups such as habanera groups, coplas and rock groups have proliferated. The musical interest is justified by the great diversity of festivals in historical and monumental buildings or outdoors in squares or places of great beauty. The Costa Brava and ‘Empordà’ together give rise to an original cuisine with a great variety of tastes and contrasts, which mixes fish and seafood from the coast, fruits and vegetables from the plain and meats, cheeses and wild products from the mountains, thus materializing the so-called ‘sea and mountain’ cuisine.
