Family boat trips along the Costa Brava: from Palamós to Calella de Palafrugell

Inicio » Family boat trips along the Costa Brava: from Palamós to Calella de Palafrugell

Discovering the Costa Brava from the sea is a unique experience for families who want to enjoy nature, tranquility, and culture along the Mediterranean coast. From Palamós to Calella de Palafrugell, the coastline offers hidden coves, reddish cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and local stories that bring this seaside to life, steeped in maritime history.

At Custom Sailing Costa Brava we organize family routes in comfortable and safe boats, with skippers who know every corner, every sea current and every local legend.

Below we propose an easy route, ideal for children and adults, perfect for a relaxed morning or afternoon of sailing.

1. Departure from Palamós

The port of Palamós is the ideal starting point: easy access, a traditional maritime atmosphere and a landscape that combines history, gastronomy and Mediterranean life.

Very close by we find the Platja del Castell, where the Iberian settlement of Castell is located, a settlement with more than 2,000 years of history, on top of a promontory overlooking the sea.

2. Cala S’Alguer: the most authentic postcard

A few minutes’ sail away, one of the most photographed spots on the Costa Brava appears: Cala S’Alguer.

Their fishermen’s cottages maintain the essence of the old seafaring world: simple life, wooden boats and absolute calm.

3. La Banyera de la Russa (Cala Massoni): nature and elegance

Just before reaching Cap Roig, we find Cala Massoni, popularly known as la banyera de la russa. Legend has it that Dorothy Webster, a British aristocrat, used this natural pool for bathing during the years she and her husband, Nicholas Woevodsky, were building the gardens and castle of Cap Roig.

They say the fishermen would admire her elegance from afar… and that she would bathe without a swimsuit. A legend that still brings a smile to the locals’ faces.

4. El Crit: the cove of legend

Facing the Illes Formigues, we find Cala El Crit, the scene of a dramatic episode linked to pirate attacks. Oral tradition tells of a young woman who was kidnapped, resisted Captain Amara… and whose scream echoed along the coast, giving the cove its name.

Today, it is a quiet, wild, and fascinating cove.

5. Calella de Palafrugell and Llafranc: perfect destination for families

Upon arriving in Calella de Palafrugell, the landscape changes: white houses, habanera music, boats moored on the sand…

A little further north, the Far de Sant Sebastià, perched atop a cliff, offers one of the most beautiful views of the Mediterranean coast.
